Cherry County Historical Society Museum History
In 1928 Irene Kime, pioneer of the Kennedy community, called a meeting to organize a historical society. Foresight and support from other interested pioneers across the northern portion of Cherry County caused historical facts to be gathered and recorded thus forming the Cherry County Historical Society Museum.
The first collections, mainly newspapers, were stored in the Cherry County Court House basement until City Hall was built in 1933. Fund raising began in 1958 with the building being erected a year later. Additions to the building were added in 1971, 1985 and 2010.
The Cherry County Historical Society Museum is a non-profit organization and is funded by the county and donation.
