The Cherry County Historical Society Museum is located in the historic heart of the Sandhills at the intersection of US Hwy. 20 and 83 in Valentine, NE.
The Cherry County Historical Society Museum maintains an extensive library with newspaper files and microfilm records dating from 1884. Researchers may obtain records of their ancestors through the genealogical search process conducted by historical society members or by visiting in person to use their resources.
Exhibits include Native American artifacts, homesteaders' lives, cattle ranching,
Ft. Niobrara, and the life in the early part of the century offering visitors a view into the area's colorful past. Here you will see pump organs, toys, quilts, china, saddlery, vintage clothing, military uniforms and memorabilia, and many photographs. A restored 1882 log cabin is also on display in the back.
